() Date: September 04, 2018 02:34PM I have been largely MIA on the Corvair scene for 3 years. The Spyder question has been in notable CORSA member hands since 1971. It has been crashed in the mid 80's, so I have no problem going custom instead of resto on this. I purchased it in 2008 and won my class at the 2010 Convention. It developed some issues, so in 2012 we pulled the uni-pack. () Date: September 04, 2018 02:35PM With the help of Jamie R (former CORSA Pres) we have the transaxle completely rebuilt. He has the engine now, and after some job situations, we are dropping off a stash of parts to get it back together. () Date: September 04, 2018 02:44PM Something I wasn't sure I would get to, but now have the means. Body work is being sourced. Completely strip the body then bead blast the body, trunk, and engine compartment. Replace driver's rocker and a few other rust areas addressed. Then the big question...what to paint it? Original color is Azure Aqua. I don't want to replace the entire interior, and am really liking the new Harley Davidson "115th Anni Legend Blue Denim". So I might try and see if I can merge the two colors so I can keep the interior the same color. More to come. [yes, that is the same son that was in the previous post when we pulled the engine. Time flies!] Curtis 64 Spyder Convertible Milwaukee, Wi Former Corvairs 62 Monza 900 Coupe (102/4) 64 Monza 900 Convertible (110/PG) 65 Monza Coupe (110/PG) 66 Monza Coupe (110/PG) 66 Monza Sedan (110/PG) Attachments: ![]() ![]() Re: The Custom 1964 Spyder Convertible Project Posted by:

() Date: September 05, 2018 09:34AM Ironic that the color was what made me not want to buy the car. Because it is the same color inside and out, it gets a bit much. Looks better with the top up to break up the sea of aqua. Oh, and I finally have a tow rig. ![]() Curtis 64 Spyder Convertible Milwaukee, Wi Former Corvairs 62 Monza 900 Coupe (102/4) 64 Monza 900 Convertible (110/PG) 65 Monza Coupe (110/PG) 66 Monza Coupe (110/PG) 66 Monza Sedan (110/PG) Attachments: ![]() ![]() Re: The Custom 1964 Spyder Convertible Project Posted by:

() Date: February 12, 2019 12:34PM Issues were pointed out after the 2010 convention by Larry Claypool. Low compression on one or more cylinders. Compression check proved him right (he did it by ear at a car show). The engine was all original and only ever resealed to put in the car in the early 80's. It was tired, although it was still competitive. This engine rebuild is more of a "prevent complete failure" and get it back to better than new. Body work is also being done to make it safe again. This summer should see it driving again, although not in new paint. () Date: February 12, 2019 03:36PM I am also a fan of the aqua. I would keep it. In fact, I like it so much that I'm sincerely thinking about it for my project. My wife really likes it, and if she digs it, there is more of a chance that finances will be shifted towards the project car. Anyone have a paint code for that awesome aqua? ![]() ![]() ![]() Ketchup, Mayonnaise, and Mustard... I'll see you in my dreams. John Carver -- Simpsonville SC "If you dig it, do it...
